What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level structural engineer to join a Mountain Civil/Structural Substation team. Under general supervision you will support project delivery across design, development, and construction tasks for substation and related infrastructure projects.

  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from field surveys, blueprints, GIS, subsurface utility information, maps, and geotechnical reports.
  • Support basic structural engineering tasks such as research, inspections of existing and proposed conditions, and verification of site characteristics.
  • Produce clear, accurate technical documentation: drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, site logs, and engineering notes.
  • Help perform routine calculations and apply applicable codes, standards, and construction requirements to ensure structural soundness and safety.
  • Follow site-specific procedures and safety guidelines during field work and data collection.
  • Complete assigned training and follow company policies, including safety and code-of-conduct requirements.
  • Work independently on routine items and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Who You Are

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 0–1 years of relevant post-education experience (entry-level).
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with design/build concepts and foundational knowledge of structural/civil codes, regulations, and compliance practices.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, pay attention to detail, and manage multiple assignments.
  • Basic technical writing skills and comfort with office software, spreadsheets, and engineering tools.
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific software is a plus (examples: MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STAAD, HEC-RAS).
  • Ability to follow company health, safety, and workplace policies.
  • Occasional travel may be required; schedule flexibility may be needed for project demands.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Prior internship or relevant practical experience in structural engineering.
  • Active participation in local professional practice organizations.

Compensation & Logistics

  • Estimated salary: $80,421 per year (estimated).
  • Employment type: Full-time.
  • Work location: Quivira, KS (on-site / field work as required).
  • Relocation assistance: not available for this position.
  • Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
