What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an Early-Career Water Resources Engineer to support stormwater and surface-water projects in Pioneer Square, WA. You will apply academic knowledge and early professional experience to real-world engineering tasks, work with interdisciplinary teams, and develop the consulting and technical skills needed to grow toward project leadership.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and clients
• Support industrial stormwater permit compliance projects, including updates to Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), site maps, drainage figures, inspection forms, and BMP tables
• Conduct field inspections, storm drain and drainage system assessments, stormwater sampling, and site reconnaissance to document conditions and pollutant sources
• Coordinate sampling logistics with field staff, laboratories, clients, and project managers
• Install and configure field instruments for stormwater and surface-water monitoring studies
• Manage, QA/QC, and summarize discrete and continuous environmental monitoring data
• Develop and apply hydrologic and hydraulic (H/H) models to support stormwater collection, treatment-system design, water-resources management, and ecosystem restoration
• Contribute to preparation of construction plan sets, specifications, and cost estimates for stormwater infrastructure
• Prepare technical documents, exhibits, figures, maps, tables, and calculation packages to support deliverables
• Drive personal, company, or rental vehicles to project sites as needed

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related field
• At least 2 years of relevant experience (including internships, co-ops, academic projects, or field experience)
• Strong interpersonal, written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Interest in industrial stormwater compliance, SWPPP preparation, NPDES permitting, water-quality monitoring, BMP implementation, and regulatory support
• Ability and willingness to perform regular field work, including stormwater sampling during qualifying storm events and occasional overnight travel
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel

Preferred

• Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering with emphasis in water resources
• EI / EIT certification; ability to obtain P.E. registration in Washington within three years
• Familiarity with stormwater sampling, drainage systems, conveyance, and pollutant-source identification
• Knowledge of stormwater management concepts, hydrology, hydraulics, grading, erosion and sediment control, stormwater treatment systems, and Low Impact Development (LID) strategies
• Technical experience with hydrologic/hydraulic/hydrodynamic modeling software such as EPA-SWMM, WWHM, InfoWorks, HSPF, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, CE-QUAL-W2, or EFDC
• Experience with spatial analysis and design software such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or Civil 3D
• Experience with programming, data analytics, or information management tools (Python, R, SQL, Excel, or visualization/statistical software)
• Comfort organizing analytical data, laboratory reports, chain-of-custody documentation, monitoring results, and regulatory submittals

Compensation & Benefits

• Employment type: Full-time (Contractor opportunity noted)
• Reported pay range for work performed in the Seattle/Pioneer Square area: Minimum Salary: $85,555/year — Maximum Salary: $106,945/year. Actual compensation will be based on education, experience, skills, and location.

• Primary work location: Pioneer Square, Washington (on-site with regular fieldwork)
