What You’ll Do

Confidential Client seeks an Early Career Substation Electrical Engineer to support substation design and power delivery projects in Lakewood, CO. Work with senior engineers and interdisciplinary teams to develop engineering deliverables, support field activities, and grow technical skills through on-the-job experience and training.

• Support engineers and project teams with electrical engineering and design activities for transmission and distribution substation projects.
• Prepare and update engineering deliverables such as single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, substation layouts, and construction drawings.
• Collect, organize, and analyze project data for engineering studies, equipment selection, and design development.
• Perform basic electrical calculations for loads, voltage drop, grounding systems, power distribution, and equipment sizing.
• Participate in design reviews and quality-assurance processes to ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes, and client requirements.
• Assist in producing technical reports, specifications, and project documentation.
• Support field visits, site assessments, commissioning efforts, and construction-related activities as required.
• Complete assigned training and professional development activities; follow company policies and ethical guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles and power systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar engineering design software.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies.
• Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship, co-op, or academic project experience related to electrical engineering, power systems, or substation design.
• Familiarity with power system analysis tools such as ASPEN, ETAP, CAPE, SKM, or similar.
• Exposure to utility, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, or consulting engineering projects.
• Participation in professional organizations (e.g., IEEE).

Compensation & Benefits

• Estimated compensation (from source): $113,860 per year — Confidential Client provides the compensation range believed to be appropriate for this role based on experience, location, and internal equity. The final offer may vary.
• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off (benefits vary by employer program).

Note: Relocation assistance is not available for this role.
