What You’ll Do

Under general supervision, you will support structural engineering projects across building and infrastructure work in both the public and private sectors. You will assist senior engineers by collecting data, performing routine analyses, producing documentation, and helping to ensure designs meet applicable codes and safety requirements.

• Assist with site data collection and compilation (surveys, blueprints, GIS, subsurface utility info, geotechnical data).
• Support basic structural analyses and research for existing and proposed site conditions.
• Help prepare drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, technical notes, and work site logs using CAD and related tools.
• Verify site characteristics and assist on tasks to ensure structural soundness under expected loads.
• Follow safety procedures and project-specific documentation and record-keeping requirements.
• Complete assigned training and perform other duties as needed to meet project goals.

Responsibilities (day-to-day)

• Collect and analyze field and design data to support project development.
• Perform entry-level engineering tasks: measurements, calculations, and code checks under supervision.
• Generate clear, accurate documentation and electronic deliverables for design and construction teams.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary team members and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and record-keeping protocols.
• Participate in occasional site visits and travel as required by project needs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• 0–1 years of relevant post-education experience (entry-level / early career).
• Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with design/build concepts and basic knowledge of structural/civil codes and regulations.
• Competent written and verbal communication skills for internal and external collaboration.
• Self-directed with the ability to prioritize tasks and work well in team settings.
• Basic technical literacy with office software, spreadsheets, and technical writing.
• Familiarity with discipline-specific software (examples: MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STAAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).
• Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to client health, safety, and conduct policies.
• Availability for project schedules that may extend beyond a typical workweek; occasional travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• Previous internship or practical experience related to the engineering discipline.
• Active membership or participation in local professional organizations.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation range (expected): $60,600 — $90,900 per year (range reflects good-faith estimate based on education, experience, location, and internal equity; final offer may vary).
