Your Impact
This role supports project teams in the design, development, and construction of building and infrastructure projects in the public and private sectors. You will provide entry-level structural engineering assistance to help ensure designs meet safety, code, and performance expectations.
- Under general supervision, collect, compile, and analyze site data (surveys, blueprints, GIS, subsurface utility info, geotechnical data) to support project development and design.
- Assist with basic structural engineering tasks including site inspections, condition assessments, and code conformance checks.
- Perform routine engineering calculations and provide entry-level technical input on design requirements and operating strategies.
- Help verify site characteristics and advise on structural responses to loads and environmental forces.
- Produce clear, accurate documentation using electronic systems, 2D/3D drawings, and field notes.
- Follow safety guidelines and site-specific procedures; complete assigned training.
- Exercise ethical decision-making with respect to company resources and comply with client policies.
- Perform additional duties as required by project needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or closely related discipline).
- 0–1 years of relevant post-education experience (entry-level).
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with design/build concepts and relevant structural/civil codes and compliance practices.
- Competent written and verbal communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail, ability to multitask, and prioritize in a dynamic environment.
- Able to work independently under general supervision and collaboratively on teams.
- Basic technical writing and office software proficiency (spreadsheets, documentation tools).
- Familiarity with discipline-specific software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STAAD, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS.
- Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
- Ability to work project-driven schedules that may extend beyond a typical workweek; occasional travel as required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification.
- Prior internship experience relevant to the engineering discipline.
- Active participation in local professional organizations.
