What You’ll Do
This early-career Structural Engineer role at Confidential Client provides hands-on support for the design, development, and construction of building and infrastructure projects. Under general supervision you will assist with research, site assessments, basic design tasks, documentation, and field verification to help ensure safe, functional, and code-compliant structures.
- Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from work sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility records, maps, and geotechnical reports.
- Support entry-level structural engineering tasks: site inspections, basic analyses, and documentation to verify conformance with applicable codes, standards, and permits.
- Help prepare and update design drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, and technical documentation using common engineering software.
- Contribute to routine engineering calculations and provide technical support for design/build projects that address load paths, environmental loads, and constructability.
- Maintain clear, accurate site logs and electronic records for assigned tasks.
- Follow site safety programs and project-specific procedures.
- Complete assigned training and engage in professional development activities.
- Exercise ethical decision-making and adhere to Confidential Client’s code of conduct and policies.
- Perform additional duties as required by project needs.
Who You Are
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or closely related field).
- 0–1 years of relevant post-education experience (entry-level).
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with design/build concepts and basic structural/civil codes, regulations, and record-keeping.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work independently with general supervision and collaboratively as part of a project team.
- Basic technical writing and proficiency with office software (spreadsheets, word processing) and engineering tools.
- Familiarity with discipline-specific software is a plus (examples: MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STAAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).
- Commitment to health, safety, and workplace conduct policies.
- Flexibility to work schedules required by project timelines; occasional travel may be needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward licensure.
- Prior internship or co-op experience relevant to structural or civil engineering.
- Active participation in local professional organizations is a plus.
Working Conditions & Logistics
- Location: Tempe, AZ (on-site and field assignments as project needs require).
- Employment type: Full time (Contractor engagements possible per posting).
- Estimated pay (as listed): $60,060 per year — pay shown is an estimate provided by the source.
