What You’ll Do
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking an Early Career Structural Engineer to join an engineering team in Manhattan, NY. In this entry-level role you will support the analysis, design, and documentation of building structures across residential, commercial, institutional, and mixed‑use projects. This position is ideal for recent graduates or engineers with up to one year of post‑degree experience who want hands‑on exposure to structural design and construction support.
- Assist with structural design and detailing for steel, concrete, masonry, and foundation systems
- Develop engineering calculations and structural models using industry-standard software
- Prepare construction documents, drawings, and concise technical reports
- Support construction administration and coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors
- Ensure work follows applicable building codes, industry standards, and project quality requirements
- Participate in training and mentorship to build technical skills and professional judgment

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or closely related discipline)
- 0–1 years of relevant post‑education experience
- Basic analytical and design skills; ability to solve entry‑level engineering problems
- Ability to work under the supervision of experienced design engineers
- Familiarity with discipline‑specific software (examples: SAFE, ETABS, RAM Structural Systems, SpColumn, AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, Excel)
- Competent technical writing and documentation skills
- Understanding of relevant building codes, regulations, and industry compliance practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Ability to work within agreed budgets and schedules under supervision
- Ability to work in the United States immediately (no sponsorship provided)
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field
- Internship experience relevant to structural engineering
- Active membership or participation in local engineering professional organizations
Employment Details & Compensation
- Employment type: Full‑time (Contractor option indicated by client)
- Location: Manhattan, NY (on‑site / hybrid depending on project)
- Salary range (provided by client): $72,700 — $100,000 per year
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs
