The Early Career Structural Engineer supports the design, development, and construction of building and infrastructure projects by assisting with research, data analysis, and structural design tasks under general supervision. What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level Structural Engineering role supporting design, analysis, and construction projects across buildings and infrastructure. Under general supervision, you will assist senior engineers with site data collection, basic design tasks, documentation, and compliance checks to help deliver safe, code-compliant, and functional structures.
- Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from site surveys, blueprints, GIS, subsurface utility reports, maps, and geotechnical information.
- Support basic structural engineering tasks including research, inspections, and verification of existing and proposed site conditions.
- Help prepare accurate drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, and concise technical documentation and field logs.
- Contribute to routine calculations and entry-level design checks to evaluate load paths, structural connections, and stability.
- Follow and document compliance with applicable codes, permits, and construction regulations.
- Complete assigned training, maintain safety compliance, and follow site-specific procedures.
- Communicate findings and questions clearly to engineers, project managers, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Travel occasionally to project sites as required.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or closely related discipline).
- 0–1 years of relevant post-education experience.
- Strong research and analytical skills; attention to detail.
- Familiarity with design/build concepts and relevant structural/civil construction codes and regulations.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision and collaboratively on project teams.
- Basic technical writing and office-software proficiency (spreadsheets, documentation tools).
- Willingness to work project-specific schedules which may extend beyond typical workweek hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Prior internship or co-op experience in the engineering discipline.
- Active participation in local professional organizations.
Tools & Technical Skills
- Familiarity with discipline-specific design and drafting tools, such as:
- MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D
- ArcGIS, InRoads, GeoPAK
- GeoSlope, ANSYS, STAAD, HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS
- Basic exposure to structural analysis and site-inspection workflows.
Location, Schedule & Compensation
- Location: Guadalupe, AZ (on-site / occasional travel to project sites).
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Estimated compensation (per source): $106,184 per year (estimated).
