Your Impact
Confidential Client is seeking an Early Career Highway Engineer to join their transportation team in East View, NY. This entry-level role supports roadway and highway design work from concept through final design and offers hands-on exposure to public- and private-sector transportation projects. Under general supervision, you will help gather and analyze site data, assist with design production, support permitting and compliance activities, and prepare technical documentation that supports safe, functional infrastructure.
- Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing field and survey data, GIS, subsurface utility information, maps, and geotechnical inputs.
- Support geometric and highway design tasks (complete streets, temporary traffic control, limited access highway segments).
- Produce plans, drawings, and technical documentation using electronic drafting systems.
- Perform basic engineering research, inspections, and checks to confirm design conformance with standards, codes, and permits.
- Help prepare technical analyses and reports for state/local agencies and private clients.
- Follow site-specific safety procedures and project QA/QC protocols.
- Complete assigned training and contribute ethically to team deliverables.
- Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
Who You Are
You are an early-career civil engineer focused on transportation and ready to grow technical design and production skills in a collaborative environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- 0–1 years of relevant post-education experience.
- Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with design/build concepts and relevant civil construction regulations.
- Effective verbal and written communication for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Able to work independently with general supervision and as part of a team to meet project objectives.
- Basic technical writing and office software proficiency.
- Commitment to workplace safety and company policies.
- Flexibility to work hours that meet project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or degree focus in Highway / Transportation Engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward it.
- Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, ArcGIS, OpenRoads).
- Related internship or co-op experience.
- Membership or active participation in local professional organizations.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation (expected range): $72,800 - $86,000 per year. Actual pay will depend on experience, skills, and location.
