Position overview
This opportunity is for an Early Career Geologist supporting multidisciplinary environmental site characterization and remediation projects for our confidential client in Philatelic, CA. This entry-level role combines fieldwork (soil, groundwater, vapor and sediment sampling, drilling oversight, monitoring well installation), technical data evaluation, and technical writing. Expect travel to field assignments approximately 25–50% of the time. Work is performed under the supervision of project managers and senior staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine field activities for environmental site investigations and remediation: soil, groundwater, soil vapor, sediment and surface water sampling.
- Oversee drilling activities and monitoring well installation; support remediation system operations and pilot testing.
- Maintain QA/QC procedures for sample collection, chain-of-custody and data integrity.
- Generate accurate field documentation using electronic data collection systems and field logs.
- Support preparation of technical memoranda, field reports and environmental data summaries.
- Apply current technologies and best practices to contaminant characterization and remediation efforts.
- Complete required training and certifications to support field assignments.
- Follow all health, safety and site-specific protocols, including equipment decontamination procedures.
- Perform additional duties as business needs require.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science or closely related discipline.
- 0–1 years of related experience (entry-level).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and research skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication; able to convey technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work both independently under general supervision and collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency with technical writing, Microsoft Office and environmental data management tools.
- Commitment to workplace safety and ability to comply with health, safety and drug/alcohol policies.
- Ability to perform fieldwork in varying weather and site conditions; flexible work schedule as project needs require.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain it.
- Ability and willingness to pursue Professional Geologist registration in California.
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science or related field.
- Internship or coursework related to environmental site investigations, remediation, due diligence or contaminated site management.
- Experience with groundwater monitoring, drilling oversight, remediation system operations or environmental data evaluation.
- Active participation in professional organizations relevant to geology or hydrogeology.

Compensation & benefits
- Expected salary range: $63,000 – $78,700 per year (provided in good faith based on experience, location and internal equity).
