What You’ll Do

This entry-level Environmental Scientist role supports field and lab work to help evaluate and protect environmental resources. Working under general supervision, you will collect, document, and help analyze observational and spatial data across biological, physical, and earth-science projects.

  • Conduct field surveys and collect observational and spatial environmental data.
  • Collect and compile air, soil, water, and other environmental samples following established chain-of-custody and quality-control procedures.
  • Maintain accurate field notebooks, electronic records, and sample logs.
  • Assist with basic environmental science tasks related to ecological systems, groundwater, geology, water supply, pollution control, and habitat assessments.
  • Use common field technologies and GIS/mapping tools to record locations and support analyses.
  • Follow site-specific safety procedures, health policies, and regulatory compliance practices.
  • Complete required training and follow Confidential Client’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet project needs.

You are an early-career environmental professional who learns quickly, follows procedures closely, and communicates clearly with teammates and stakeholders.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce concise, accurate documentation.
  • Comfortable working independently under general supervision and as part of a field team.
  • Able to follow safety protocols and maintain sample integrity.
  • Reliable, professional, and adaptable to project schedules that may extend beyond a typical workweek.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Geology, Engineering, or a related life-sciences field.
  • Basic familiarity with ecological and habitat field methods, environmental sampling, and research techniques.
  • Awareness of relevant environmental laws, regulations, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Competent written and verbal communication skills for scientific and non-scientific audiences.
  • Basic computer skills (office automation, electronic recordkeeping, and common field tools).
  • Ability to travel occasionally for project work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership in or active participation with local professional environmental organizations.
  • Prior field sampling, GIS, or laboratory experience helpful but not required.

Location & Work Conditions

  • Job location: Phoenix, AZ.
  • Position is full-time. Occasional travel to project sites required. Work schedules may vary by project and season.
  • Estimated pay (as shown by source): $51,761 per year — actual compensation will be determined by the Confidential Client based on experience and applicable law.
