Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an Early Career Electrical Engineer (Mission Critical/Data Center) for their West Milwaukee, WI office. This entry-level, full-time engineering role provides hands-on experience with substation, power distribution, and mission-critical/data-center electrical systems under the guidance of experienced engineers.
What You’ll Do
- Assist under general supervision with data collection, compilation, and analysis for substation components and power-distribution equipment.
- Support preparation of procurement package specifications and pricing for electrical equipment.
- Contribute to single-line and three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, general arrangement drawings, and substation layouts.
- Help develop grounding grid and lightning protection designs in accordance with codes and best practices.
- Perform entry-level electrical calculations (loads, equipment sizing, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, lighting circuits).
- Provide basic design support for AC/DC panels, conduit/trenching strategies, and cable routing for safety and code compliance.
- Verify site characteristics and assist with field assessments, testing, and construction support when required.
- Produce accurate technical documentation, drawings, and field notes using electronic systems.
- Complete assigned training, follow safety procedures, and comply with all applicable regulations and standards (IEEE, NESC, NERC).
- Perform additional duties as required to meet project needs.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 0–1 years relevant post-education experience (entry-level).
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- General understanding of electrical engineering principles applied to large capital projects.
- Familiarity with electrical construction laws, codes, and compliance practices.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Organized, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Basic technical writing and proficiency with office software (spreadsheets, documentation tools).
- Familiarity with discipline-specific design tools (e.g., CADD, AutoCAD Electrical; exposure to Aspen or CAPE is a plus).
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules that meet project demands; occasional travel may be required.
Preferred
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Prior internship experience in electrical engineering or related discipline.
- Membership or active participation in local professional organizations.
Location & Logistics
- Primary work location: West Milwaukee, WI (on-site at the client’s Milwaukee-area office).
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Occasional travel to project sites may be required depending on assignments.
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated salary: $95,551 per year (estimated).
