Overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring an Early Career Electrical Engineer to join a Power Delivery / Distribution team in Fort Mill, SC. This entry-level role supports engineering design, field verification, technical documentation, and basic electrical calculations for utility, commercial, and industrial power distribution projects. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, up to 2 years’ experience, and familiarity or willingness to learn industry design tools and standards.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with research, concept development, and basic design work for power distribution projects (single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams).
• Support preparation of equipment specifications and procurement documentation.
• Help develop bills of materials and perform basic material takeoffs.
• Under supervision, perform electrical calculations for loads, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, lighting circuits, and equipment sizing.
• Contribute to pole loading assessments and conduit/trenching strategies for overhead and underground distribution.
• Compile and analyze data related to distribution components and standards (IEEE, NESC/NERC), and assist in review processes.
• Produce clear, accurate documentation and drawings using CAD and other software; maintain field/worksite logs.
• Follow site-specific safety procedures and company policies; participate in assigned training.
• Coordinate with project team members and, when appropriate, client contacts on technical aspects of assigned tasks.
• Perform additional entry-level engineering tasks as assigned to meet project needs.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 0–2 years of relevant post‑degree experience (internships count).
• Solid foundational knowledge of electrical engineering and basic physics.
• Strong analytical and research skills; attention to detail.
• Good written and oral communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn discipline-specific design software (CADD, AutoCAD, Pole Foreman, SpidaCalc, GIS tools).
• Awareness of relevant codes/regulations and record-keeping requirements.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and ability to pass background screening.

Preferred

• Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification.
• Familiarity with the NEC, NESC, and/or GO95.
• Prior internship experience in electrical distribution or related engineering work.
• Membership or active participation in professional engineering organizations.
• Basic practical understanding of overhead and underground distribution circuits.
