What You’ll Do
Confidential Client seeks an Early Career Electrical Engineer (Distribution) to support power delivery and substation work for commercial, utility, and industrial projects. Under general supervision you will assist project teams with technical tasks that support design, procurement, construction, and documentation for distribution and substation systems.
- Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data for substation components and equipment specifications to support procurement packages and pricing.
- Support drafting and review of single-line and three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, general arrangement drawings, substation layouts, and bus arrangements.
- Help develop grounding grid and lightning protection concepts consistent with applicable codes and permits.
- Perform entry-level electrical calculations (loads, equipment sizing, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, lighting circuits and controls).
- Assist with AC/DC panel design, conduit/trenching strategies, and equipment/cabling sizing to meet safety and functionality standards.
- Prepare clear, concise documentation, electronic drawings, and field/site notes to record design and site conditions.
- Follow applicable IEEE, NESC, and NERC design considerations and compliance requirements under supervision.
- Complete assigned training and follow site-specific safety procedures and company policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support project delivery.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 0–1 years of relevant post-education experience (entry / early-career level).
- Solid analytical and research skills; attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of electrical design for large capital projects (power distribution, substations).
- Familiarity with electrical codes, construction practices, and regulatory considerations.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Self-directed, able to prioritize tasks in a dynamic team environment.
- Basic proficiency with office software, spreadsheets, and technical writing.
- Familiarity with discipline-specific design tools (CADD, Aspen, CAPE) and AutoCAD Electrical.
- Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health / drug / harassment policies.
- Ability to work project‑driven schedules; occasional travel may be required.
Preferred
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Relevant internship experience.
- Active participation in local professional or technical organizations.
Compensation & Employment Type
- Estimated base salary: $87,572 per year (estimated).
- Employment type: Full-time; Contractor (per source listing).
Location & Travel
- Job location: Oak Ridge North, TX (on-site / local office).
- Occasional travel to project sites may be required depending on assignment.
