This entry-level role supports infrastructure and site development projects — including roads, utilities, buildings, and water/sewer systems — by assisting with field data collection, basic design tasks, documentation, and coordination under general supervision. This is an excellent opportunity to build hands-on civil engineering experience, work with interdisciplinary teams, and develop technical skills used in infrastructure design and construction.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing field and survey data (site visits, blueprints, GIS, subsurface utility info, geotechnical reports).
  • Support basic civil design tasks and concept development for roads, drainage, utilities, and site infrastructure.
  • Perform site inspections and help verify site characteristics against plans, codes, and permit requirements.
  • Produce accurate, concise documentation and field notes using electronic systems, CAD files, and project notebooks.
  • Follow established safety and site procedures; document findings to support design and construction phases.
  • Complete assigned training and contribute to team deliverables under the direction of licensed engineers.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • 0–1 years of post-degree professional experience (entry-level).
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with the design/build process, civil construction codes, and regulatory compliance basics.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills; ability to prepare technical documentation.
  • Self-driven, detail-oriented, able to prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Basic proficiency with office software, spreadsheets, and technical writing.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, and the ability to follow health, safety, and conduct policies.
  • Availability for occasional travel and flexible schedules as project needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Experience with discipline-specific software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar tools.
  • Internship or co-op experience related to civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Active membership or participation in local professional engineering organizations.

Additional Details

  • Employment type: Full-time.
  • Location: Five Points, NC — in-person with occasional travel to project sites as required.
  • This role is appropriate for recent graduates and early-career civil engineers seeking practical, project-based experience in infrastructure design and field engineering.
