Overview
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is recruiting for an entry-level Building Technology Systems role in Houston, TX. This position supports Property & Buildings projects and contributes to the research, design, installation, testing, and documentation of smart-building technologies that improve building performance, safety, and occupant experience. This is a full-time, early-career opportunity with occasional travel depending on project needs.
What You’ll Do
- Assist under general supervision with collecting, compiling, and analyzing field data, surveys, blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, flow diagrams, and computer-generated reports to support project development, design, and installation.
- Support basic professional building technology tasks, including site inspections and assessments to verify conformance with applicable codes, standards, and permits.
- Help perform design-related calculations and contribute to operating strategies that ensure proper installation and functioning of AV, access control, security, video surveillance, and other intelligent systems.
- Provide entry-level technical assistance for integration of smart-building solutions using a converged network approach (AV/telecom, building automation, and intelligent control systems).
- Produce clear, accurate documentation and specifications using drawings, diagrams, illustrations, spreadsheets, and technical reports.
- Follow site- and project-specific safety procedures and company policies; complete assigned training.
- Communicate technical ideas effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences and support team deliverables as required.
- Perform other responsibilities as needed to meet client and project objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a closely related discipline (engineering, architectural technology, construction technology, or similar).
- 0–1 years of relevant post-education experience (internships and co-ops considered).
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with smart-building concepts, AV/telecommunications, and integrated building systems.
- Working knowledge of relevant codes, installation practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- Experience or familiarity with discipline-specific design tools (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, CAM).
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; able to work independently with general supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and ability to follow health, safety, and conduct policies.
- Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond a typical workweek when project needs require it.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States immediately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or co-op experience in building design, systems integration, or related disciplines.
- Active membership or participation in relevant professional organizations.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $68,200 - $93,800 (Confidential Client is providing a good-faith range based on experience, education, and location; final offers may vary).
- Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement savings, paid time off, parental leave, and other typical employer-provided benefits.
Location & Travel
- Work location: Houston, TX (onsite / client project sites as required).
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project assignments.
