DSP - Overnight Awake (Per Diem)-SLP

Position overview
Confidential Client is seeking Per Diem Direct Support Professionals (DSP) for awake overnight shifts across residential programs in New Haven, CT. This role provides overnight supervision, safety monitoring, and person-centered support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Shifts are scheduled as needed across REACH, SAIL, and SLP residences.
What You’ll Do
- Provide awake overnight supervision and person-centered support at assigned residences (REACH, SAIL, or SLP).
- Complete periodic apartment/residence checks and monitor residential systems (phones, cameras, email).
- Assist individuals with morning routines when needed (medication wake-up, grooming, meal prep).
- Administer medication where required and in accordance with individual support plans and agency protocols.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies or urgent resident needs.
- Maintain accurate overnight logs, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Communicate clearly with incoming/outgoing staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Support families and staff who contact the residential program after business hours.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and security of the residential environment during assigned shifts.
- Attend required trainings and staff meetings; maintain required certifications (e.g., medication administration, CPR/First Aid).
Who you are / Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field preferred, or four years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Previous experience supporting adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and/or autism preferred.
- Ability to work independently overnight and exercise sound judgment without direct on-site supervision.
- Flexible and available for per-diem, on-call overnight shifts, sometimes with short notice, across multiple program sites.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between REACH, SAIL, and SLP program sites.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; basic computer literacy.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse populations.
- Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and ability to take direction from multiple teams.
- Valid Connecticut driver’s license required.
- Willingness to obtain and maintain in-service requirements and certifications as mandated by Confidential Client.
Compensation & schedule
- Pay: $21.60 per hour.
- Schedule: Per diem; awake overnight shifts scheduled as needed.
- Location: New Haven, CT — travel between program sites may be required.
