Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a full-time Driver's License Examiner I to perform testing, interviews, and inspections that determine eligibility for driver’s licenses and state identification. This is an in-person role based in Norman, OK. The Driver’s License Examiner I is an entry-level position within a multi-level examining program (Level I, Level II, Lead) and may progress with certification and experience.


Compensation & Benefits

This position has an annual rate of $43,680.00.

What You’ll Do

This list summarizes the primary responsibilities. It is not exhaustive.

  • Interview applicants to determine the type of license or identification required; inspect and verify qualifying documents and identity
  • Administer vision, written, pre-trip and skills (road) tests and evaluate performance against state and federal standards
  • Conduct vehicle safety inspections (including commercial vehicle inspections) and evaluate operators’ safe operation of required systems
  • Establish and maintain driver’s license records securely and in compliance with privacy laws
  • Advise applicants on disqualifying issues and procedures to resolve them; assist with waiver or restriction determinations
  • Respond to inquiries from motor license agents, law enforcement, and the public regarding laws and procedures
  • Assist Legal Division as requested to gather evidence for potential fraudulent application cases
  • Conduct formal and informal hearings related to suspensions, revocations, restrictions, modifications, temporary licenses, and related financial responsibility matters
  • Provide training to lower-level staff (Level II & Lead roles) and proctor CDL exams if CCKE certified (Level II & Lead)
  • Lead-level duties include approving timesheets and overseeing assigned teams
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Level I (entry level) — one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field, OR
  • Four (4) years of technical clerical office work, OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred / Additional qualifications:

  • Customer service experience
  • Familiarity with DMV processes and procedures
  • Typing proficiency of at least 50 WPM with minimal errors

Level II:

  • Meet Level I minimums, PLUS obtain CCKE (Certified Commercial Knowledge Examiner) certification when pre-approved and required

Lead:

  • Meet Level I minimums, PLUS a minimum of six months of experience in the Product & Experience division (or equivalent supervisory/lead experience)

Level Descriptors

  • Level I — Entry-level responsibilities for testing and issuing driver’s licenses and state IDs.
  • Level II — Full-performance level; performs higher-complexity examinations and holds CCKE certification to proctor CDL exams.
  • Lead — Subject-matter expert; performs complex examining functions and provides training and oversight.

Special Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Schedule flexibility required; may include early/late shifts, weekends and occasional overtime
  • Work location and assignments may vary by agency needs
  • Occasional travel may be required; possession and maintenance of a valid Oklahoma Driver License is required
  • Role works in a storefront setting with frequent customer interaction
  • Ability to stand up to eight hours per day and lift 10–50 pounds regularly, with assistance as needed
