Job Overview

The Downstream Manufacturing Technician supports bulk drug-substance production in a multi-product, cGMP-regulated manufacturing environment. This is a full-time, hourly role based in Union City, CA. Pay Range: $21.28/hr - $26.28/hr. You will work on-site for Confidential Client and follow established cGMP procedures and safety standards.


Responsibilities

  • Executes fundamental unit operations in downstream manufacturing for bulk drug substance production in a multi-product facility.
  • Perform duties under limited supervision following standard operating and manufacturing procedures (SOPs).
  • Independently carry out non-complex operations after training: parts cleaning, weigh & dispense, equipment preparation, kit assembly, and staging.
  • Support internal operations: stocking consumables/materials, updating controlled SOP binders, and discarding expired reagents properly.
  • Execute tasks under oversight such as CIP and SIP of tanks and manufacturing equipment, buffer preparation, and transfers into tanks/bags.
  • Perform daily analytics and basic maintenance of analytical equipment.
  • Clean, set up, and prep equipment according to procedures.
  • Document work in compliance with cGMP and cGDP standards; report abnormalities and deviations promptly.
  • Maintain production areas to 5S standards and escalate safety issues as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; entry-level role.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree or vocational training in biotechnology preferred.
  • 1+ year experience in a cGMP-regulated industry preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP, EHS, and compliance policies; able to follow SOPs, OCPs, and BGSs.
  • Comfortable performing repeatable, proceduralized tasks with attention to detail and a right-first-time mindset.
  • Ability to read and accurately follow SOPs and work instructions; strong written and verbal communication.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to work with computer-based systems.
  • Team-oriented, dependable, and safety-minded.

Compensation & Location

  • Pay Range: $21.28 — $26.28 per hour (hourly, non-exempt).
  • Location: On-site in Union City, CA (Confidential Client).
  • Employment Type: Full-time.
