Overview

This SkillBridge fellowship is open to transitioning service members participating in the DoW/DoD SkillBridge program. The fellowship sits at the intersection of data science, ML/AI engineering, MLOps, generative AI, and data engineering. You will help translate business needs into scalable, production-ready solutions — moving proofs-of-concept into deployed capability.

Responsibilities

• Scale AI/ML solutions from prototype to production.
• Automate analysis for call transcripts, surveys, digital feedback, and other service interaction data.
• Implement generative AI solutions (LLMs), RAG, embeddings, and intelligent automation workflows.
• Analyze and interpret moderately complex results to inform decisions.
• Develop and maintain software components, algorithms, and automated processes.
• Build and maintain ETL pipelines, APIs, and data foundations to support modeling.
• Use modeling and trend analysis to derive insights and recommendations.
• Collaborate across teams and present technical findings to stakeholders with clear data storytelling.

Minimum Qualifications

• Transitioning service member eligible for DoW/DoD SkillBridge participation.
• Experience in data science, ML engineering, NLP, or data foundations.
• Familiarity with statistics, predictive modeling, forecasting, or experimentation methods.
• Practical knowledge of Python, SQL, APIs, and ETL/data pipeline concepts.
• Experience or exposure to model lifecycle execution (training, validation, deployment).
• Strong technical communication and data storytelling skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Preferred / Desired Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Data Science, CS, Statistics, Engineering).
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, or text analytics.
• ML engineering experience with deployment, monitoring, MLOps, or CI/CD.
• Experience with PySpark and familiarity with vector databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms and tools (Databricks, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, MLflow, or similar).

Compensation & Notes

• $70,000 - $135,600 annual (potential salary if converted to a full-time employee of the client).
• Important: SkillBridge participants continue to receive military compensation and benefits while in the program and are not eligible for compensation from the client during the fellowship.
