Position Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Document Controls Specialist to support engineering teams in managing project documents and records in accordance with government and company requirements. This role is focused on accurate processing, distribution, indexing, and quality checks of engineering and construction documentation using modern EDMS tools and workflows.

What You’ll Do
- Support and assist with management of engineering documents and drawings in alignment with regulatory and company procedures.
- Process incoming and outgoing document workflows, prepare transmittals, and manage internal/external distribution lists.
- Perform quality checks and reviews of documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Configure, update, and maintain document management systems, user permissions, and distribution matrices.
- Index, file, and control engineering documents using established naming, revision, and versioning standards.
- Track document status, respond to document requests, and assist project teams with document access and retrieval.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of document control procedures and digital workflows.
Qualifications
- 1+ years’ relevant experience supporting document control or records management in engineering, construction, or related environments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and coordination abilities.
- Able to multi-task, work independently, and collaborate across project teams.
- Ability to identify and use appropriate tools and systems to index, file, and control engineering documents.
- Flexible and able to meet deadlines, including occasional overtime or weekend work when required.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Bluebeam, Adobe Pro, or Smartsheet.
- Experience with EDMS platforms such as InEight Document, SharePoint, ProjectWise, Aconex, or Documentum.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam Studio for comment resolution.
- Knowledge of construction and engineering terminology.
- Familiarity with design-build, progressive design-build, or CMGC/CMAR contract models.
- Experience working with AI agents/tools to assist document workflows is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $60,000 - $75,000 (actual compensation depends on experience, education, and location).
