Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Case Management Specialist I to join the Pre-Adjudication and Reform Unit in Somerset, MD. This role receives and assesses referrals, performs intake decisions, conducts risk assessments, and coordinates services to support youth transitioning to adulthood.

What You’ll Do
- Receive and evaluate referrals from law enforcement and other sources; make intake and triage decisions following departmental policies.
- Assess risk to public safety and determine appropriate supervision and case level for each youth.
- Supervise and monitor youth to promote community safety and successful outcomes.
- Use sanctions, incentives, and restorative/reparative activities (restitution, community service) to support accountability and pro-social behavior.
- Make referrals and coordinate delivery of treatment and rehabilitative services to address individual needs.
- Authorize filing of petitions when warranted and document case activities and decisions clearly and accurately.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, community providers, families, and victims as appropriate.
Minimum qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: None required for the entry-level classification.
Substitutions:
- An Associate of Arts degree in social/behavioral sciences or criminal justice plus two years of direct services experience with children (community or residential) may substitute for the bachelor's degree.
- U.S. Armed Forces service as a commissioned officer in related Social Services classifications may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Child & Adolescent Studies, Human Relations, or related field.
- One year of experience providing direct services to children in community or residential settings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, case documentation, and basic computer proficiency.
Licenses, registrations & certifications
- Successful candidates must obtain certification from the Maryland Correctional Training Commission as required for this classification.
- Candidates assigned duties that require driving must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license for the State of Maryland.
- Employees at certain youth centers may be required to complete medication technician training and hold Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) certification as a Medication Technician.
Special requirements
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status may be required for mandated positions under state regulations.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- A thorough background investigation including fingerprinting, drug testing, and verification of qualifications will be required.
- Candidates may be required to complete oral interviews and physical and psychological examinations.
- Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with applicable Maryland regulations.
