Overview

Confidential Client seeks qualified candidates for Engineer I / II / III (District Engineering) to support district-level engineering, construction, and operations activities. This role combines field and office work, project coordination, technical support, and financial reporting. Multiple levels are hiring — entry through senior — with pay ranges that reflect level and experience.

  • Locations: Albuquerque, NM (primary)
  • Employment type: Full-time
  • Salary ranges (level-dependent):
    • Engineer I: $73,440 – $91,800 per year
    • Engineer II: $88,640 – $110,800 per year
    • Engineer III: $104,960 – $131,200 per year Compensation is based on skills, experience, and education of the successful candidate.

What You’ll Do

This role will require independent application of standard engineering techniques, practices, and procedures in assigned areas. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Provides engineering expertise to support intermediate district projects that are generally conventional in nature
  • Interacts with and provides technical support to operations and project teams using established standards
  • Conducts or participates in studies of intermediate size evaluating performance, cost, and scheduling of a limited set of alternatives
  • Applies routine engineering techniques, practices, and procedures in support of operational areas
  • Provides technical direction and/or activity supervision to contractors and company personnel as required
  • Prepares accurate monthly project financial reports (budgeting, forecasting, work offers, invoice approvals, actuals tracking)
  • Communicates project proposals, status updates, recommendations, and technical evaluations to engineering and non-engineering stakeholders
  • Represents Confidential Client’s interests in intermediate engineering matters and participates in the development of company and industry standards

Engineer II and III perform the above plus additional responsibilities and increased scope/leadership consistent with their levels.


Qualifications

Minimum requirements (by level):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Petroleum, Metallurgy/Materials Science, Electrical, or Construction Engineering
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Level-specific experience and certification:

  • Engineer I: 0 years of experience. Must hold (or obtain within 3 months of hire) a Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited program and submit unofficial transcripts. Preferred: Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.
  • Engineer II: 2 years engineering experience (or 1 year with Master’s). Required: Fundamentals of Engineering (FE).
  • Engineer III: 5 years engineering experience (or 3 years with Master’s). Required: Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Preferred experience: Construction or utility-related work, especially in natural gas operations or pipeline/utility environments.


Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Field and office environment; may work at various job sites across New Mexico
  • Personal protective equipment required for field tasks; must be comfortable working near high‑pressure gas facilities, equipment, and pipelines
  • Travel anticipated up to 25% across New Mexico
  • On-call availability may be required (up to two weeks per year as needed); must carry a company-issued cell phone and respond as required
  • Frequently required to stand and/or walk up to half of the time; sit up to half of the time
  • Manual dexterity: ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, listen, and detect odors
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; work from elevated positions (ladders, platforms)
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and potentially toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
