Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Entry‑Level Distribution Engineer (Power Distribution) for a contract‑to‑hire, full‑time, onsite role in Huntersville, NC. This is an early career position focused on supporting the design, analysis, and implementation of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems for residential, commercial and industrial projects.

What You’ll Do

You will support senior engineers and project teams across design, field, and utility coordination tasks:

• Assist in the design and layout of overhead and underground power distribution systems
• Perform load calculations, voltage‑drop analysis, and equipment sizing
• Prepare and update engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports
• Use AutoCAD, GIS and power‑system analysis tools to model systems and document designs
• Conduct site visits to collect data and support construction and commissioning activities
• Coordinate with project managers, field engineers, contractors, and utility representatives
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards and safety practices
• Participate in project planning, scheduling and budget tracking

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or closely related discipline)
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work on site in Huntersville, NC and collaborate with field teams

Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have

• Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS, or other drafting/design software
• Exposure to power system analysis tools or simulation software
• Relevant internships, co‑op, or academic project experience in power distribution
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and work independently when required

Work Environment

• Fully onsite position based in Huntersville, NC; regular site visits and field coordination expected
• Hands‑on engineering support role in a team environment; appropriate PPE and safety training required for site work
• Typical office tasks include CAD drafting, reporting, and coordination; fieldwork will require travel within the project area

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $27.00 — $30.00 per hour (Contract to Hire). Final offer will consider qualifications, experience, and other job‑related factors.
• If hired and eligible, benefits may include medical, dental & vision; 401(k); life insurance; short/long‑term disability; HSA; and paid time off—subject to plan terms and eligibility.
