Position Overview
This is an entry‑level Digitization Engineer (IT/OT Integration) position supporting a confidential client. Remote — 6 to 12 month engagement. Ideal candidates are recent graduates or engineers with 0–2 years of industrial automation or controls experience who want hands‑on exposure to IT/OT integration, smart manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 projects.

What You’ll Do
You will help bridge factory‑floor systems and enterprise IT to enable data‑driven operations. Typical responsibilities include:
- Design and implement IT/OT integration architectures connecting PLCs, SCADA/HMI, MES, ERP, and cloud analytics.
- Configure and deploy edge gateways, data collectors and industrial connectivity (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, REST APIs).
- Acquire and validate real‑time data from machines, sensors and controllers for monitoring and predictive analytics.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across OT and IT layers; integrate plant data into enterprise databases and BI tools.
- Support cybersecurity best practices for industrial networks, including segmentation and secure communications.
- Troubleshoot communication and data flow issues between control systems and IT applications.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver dashboards, digital twins, and scalable IoT platforms.
- Document work, provide training to plant teams, and recommend continuous improvement opportunities for automation and predictive maintenance.
Qualifications
Education & experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
- Entry level: 0–2 years of relevant experience preferred (internships, co‑ops or academic projects in industrial automation are relevant).
Technical skills:
- Exposure to PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi or similar) and SCADA/HMI concepts.
- Familiarity with industrial protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP).
- Working knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) is helpful.
- Basic networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs) and an interest in OT cybersecurity.
- Scripting or programming familiarity (Python, Node‑RED, C# or similar) is a plus.
Soft skills:
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability.
- Clear communicator able to work between engineering, IT and operations teams.
- Self‑driven, collaborative, and adaptable in fast‑paced transformation projects.
Preferred Certifications (optional)
- ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Fundamentals
- Cisco CCNA Industrial
- Rockwell Automation or Siemens integration certifications
- Microsoft Azure IoT or AWS IoT certifications

- This role is remote (telecommute) and supports US operations; applicant must be located in the USA.
