Role overview
Confidential Client (a firm in PR, Advertising & Marketing) is hiring a Digital Marketing Specialist to support paid media, email marketing, and SEO campaigns for a roster of government, nonprofit, and association clients. This is a hybrid position that requires at least two days per week onsite in Alexandria, VA. Employment type: Full-time (contractor engagement may also be considered).
What you’ll do
- Build, traffic, QA, and optimize paid media campaigns across Google Ads (Search, Display, YouTube), Meta, LinkedIn, and programmatic partners — including bid/budget pacing, audience and placement adjustments, negative keyword management, and creative rotation.
- Monitor paid spend vs. flighted budgets and flag pacing risks proactively.
- Build, test, and deploy email programs (segmentation, suppression rules, automated journeys, triggered sends) in platforms such as HubSpot, Mailchimp, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or Adobe Campaign.
- QA every send for rendering, links/UTMs, personalization tokens, accessibility, and deliverability.
- Run A/B tests across paid and email (subject lines, send times, ad copy, creative, landing pages) and document learnings.
- Conduct keyword research, entity/topic analysis, and competitive review to inform organic and paid strategy.
- Track rankings, organic traffic, AI citations, and channel performance; analyze movement and recommend search optimizations.
- Participate in client calls, take accurate notes, and follow through on action items independently.
- Integrate AI tools into workflows where appropriate to streamline processes and strengthen insights.
- Track billable time accurately and meet deadlines in a fast-paced agency environment.
Required qualifications
- 1–3 years of hands-on digital marketing experience in an agency or in-house setting (relevant internships may count).
- Direct experience running or supporting live campaigns in paid media, email marketing, or SEO.
- Working knowledge of Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager (able to build and manage campaigns).
- Familiarity with GA4 and Google Search Console.
- Strong spreadsheet skills (pivot tables, lookups, cleaning exports into reports).
- Excellent oral and written communication; able to explain technical concepts to non-marketers.
- Strong attention to detail (catch broken links, incorrect UTMs, typos before sends).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or similar field — or equivalent experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Certifications: Google Ads, GA4, Meta Blueprint, or HubSpot.
- Experience with SEO tools (Semrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Moz).
- Basic HTML/CSS for email troubleshooting and landing page edits.
- Exposure to programmatic, CTV, or paid social channels beyond Meta/LinkedIn.
- Experience with Google Tag Manager or similar.
- Experience with GEO/AEO and AI-facing SEO techniques (structured data, answer-shaped content, citation tracking across generative platforms).
- Familiarity with AI visibility or brand-monitoring tools and new GEO modules in platforms like Semrush or Ahrefs.
Compensation & benefits
- Base salary range: $54,100 — $87,400 per year. The budgeted starting salary will be in the lower half of that range; final pay will depend on experience, skills, and internal equity.
- Full-time employees are eligible for comprehensive health and wellness benefits, 401(k) contributions and matching, and other standard benefits.
- Hybrid workplace with opportunities for professional growth and development.
