Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Digital Hardware Design Engineer to join their computing products team in Cedar Rapids, IA. This onsite role supports design and sustainment of ruggedized avionics hardware — including mission computers, video processing modules, and networking products used on commercial and military aircraft. U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
What You’ll Do
You will support all phases of the hardware development lifecycle — from program pursuit and design through verification, integration, and factory transition. Typical responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with senior engineers to design, analyze, simulate, and test circuit card assemblies (processors, FPGAs, memory, and high-speed interfaces).
- Perform lab‑based integration and verification testing using standard electronic test equipment.
- Create and update schematics for digital/analog mixed-signal designs and support PCB development workflows.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing, environmental, and design-to-cost) to meet product requirements.
- Apply hands‑on troubleshooting to isolate and resolve hardware issues.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field completed by the start date.
- Understanding of digital circuit design fundamentals.
- Familiarity with electronic circuit development and multi‑assembly system design.
- Willingness to work hands-on in lab environments and perform troubleshooting.
- Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- U.S. citizenship (required for this program/contract).
Preferred Qualifications
The following skills will help you succeed and are preferred:
- Experience taking designs from block diagrams/requirements to full hardware implementations and verification.
- Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB design processes.
- Exposure to signal integrity, power integrity, or analog simulation tools.
- Ability to collaborate effectively on multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Location & Work Type
This is an onsite, full-time position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. As part of a secure hiring process, selected candidates may be asked to attend certain interview steps in person at a client location.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range (good-faith estimate): USD 57,200 - USD 108,800 per year.

- Relocation eligibility may be available.
