About the Role
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Digital ASIC/FPGA Design Electrical Engineer to join an engineering team in McKinney, TX. This on-site role supports ASIC and FPGA product development for defense applications and requires the ability to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. government security clearance. The role focuses on RTL design, verification, testbench development (UVM), simulation debugging, and cross-functional collaboration.
What You’ll Do
- Support the development and execution of verification plans
- Build and maintain test benches using UVM
- Debug simulation failures and analyze waveforms/logs
- Create and run test cases and support functional coverage efforts
- Translate system-level requirements into hardware verification tasks
- Collaborate with systems, software, and mechanical engineers on integration and verification
- Support engineering reviews, documentation, and lab testing
- Participate in verification and design process improvements
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field
- Hands-on experience with FPGAs (Xilinx / Intel/Altera), RTL design (Verilog or VHDL), and simulation tools
- Solid understanding of digital design fundamentals (state machines, pipelining, clocks, resets, memory, interfaces)
- Experience debugging using waveforms and log analysis
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Perl, or Shell)
- U.S. citizenship is required and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ASIC design flows or FPGA design process
- Experience generating testbenches and verification components
- Practical knowledge of UVM (Universal Verification Methodology)
- Familiarity with hardware lab testing and board bring-up
Location & Clearance
- Work location: McKinney, TX (on-site)
- Security requirement: U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret (or equivalent) clearance. An active clearance may be required on day one depending on the role.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range (good-faith estimate): $57,200 — $108,800 USD per year
