Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an Entry‑Level Digital ASIC/FPGA Design Engineer (Electrical Engineer I) to support digital hardware development for defense applications. This is an onsite position in McKinney, TX. The role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (active clearance required after day 1).
Salary range: $57,200 - $108,800 per year (good‑faith estimate across experience levels).
What You’ll Do
- Support development and execution of verification plans for ASIC/FPGA designs
- Build and maintain verification testbenches (UVM-based)
- Debug simulation failures and analyze waveforms/logs
- Create and run test cases and support functional coverage collection
- Collaborate with systems, software, mechanical, and test teams on design and verification tasks
- Contribute to engineering reviews, documentation, and lab testing; occasional business travel may be required
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field
- Hands-on experience with FPGAs (Xilinx/Altera) and RTL design using Verilog or VHDL
- Familiarity with simulation tools and digital design fundamentals (state machines, pipelining, clocks, resets)
- Debugging experience using waveforms and log analysis
- Basic scripting skills (Python, Perl, or Shell)
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government security clearance (DoD Secret). Active clearance required after day 1.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience with FPGA design flow and build/test processes
- Experience generating testbenches and verification components
- Knowledge of UVM (Universal Verification Methodology) and verification environments
- Prior lab test or hardware bring‑up experience
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $57,200 – $108,800 USD per year (representative estimate; final offer considers role, experience, location, and skills)
