What You’ll Do
The Clinical Dietitian (Dietitian - Culinary Medicine) provides age-appropriate, evidence-based pediatric nutrition care with an emphasis on family-centered care. You will work as a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team, act as a nutrition resource for medical and nursing staff, deliver medical nutrition therapy (MNT), conduct assessments and nutrition education for patients and families, and document care in the medical record. This role includes clinical practice, patient and caregiver education, care coordination with ancillary services and community providers, and participation in quality and safety initiatives.
Pay & Employment Type
- Employment type: Full-time or Contractor (per the hiring organization)
- Pay range (provided): Minimum $70,949 — Midpoint $94,037 — Maximum $117,062
- Note: Actual pay offered will be based on skills, experience, education and other job-related factors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Completion of at least a 12-week Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics accredited dietetic internship in an acute care setting.
- Successful completion of the Registration Examination to become a Registered Dietitian (RD) within 45 days of hire.
- Eligible to meet California Children’s Services (CCS) paneling requirements within two years of employment (per CCS rules).
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of clinical nutrition experience; pediatrics preferred.
- Active registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (preferred).
- Already CCS-paneled (preferred).

- Focus on patient safety, regulatory compliance, and teamwork to support clinical outcomes.
Typical Tasks & Responsibilities
- Perform nutrition assessments and develop individualized nutrition care plans for pediatric patients.
- Provide MNT and nutrition education to patients, families and caregivers.
- Serve as a consultative resource to physicians, nurses and other clinical staff.
- Participate in rounds, case conferences and discharge planning as needed.
- Contribute to quality improvement projects, policy development and clinical documentation standards.
Physical & Work Environment
- Functional demand: Light to moderate energy level.
- Lifting/carrying: 25–35 lbs; push/pull up to 50–100 lbs (e.g., stretcher/bed movement).
- Physical activities: bending, reaching, standing, walking, sitting, squatting/kneeling, fine motor tasks and repetitive keyboard use.
- Sensory requirements: vision (near/far/depth), hearing, taste/smell as applicable.
- Environment exposures: bloodborne pathogens, airborne communicable disease, chemical/dust particulates, variable noise and temperature, uneven surfaces, and occasional radiation exposure in clinical settings.
Compliance, Training & Licensure
- Complete registration exam requirement to become a Registered Dietitian within 45 days of hire.
- Meet training and paneling timelines for CCS eligibility per state program rules.
- Maintain any required continuing education, credentials and compliance with licensure/regulatory standards applicable to the role.
