Dietician - Per Diem
The clinical dietitian provides comprehensive medical nutritional care by assessing patients' nutritional status, developing and implementing individualized nutrition care plans, and educating patients and healthcare staff. This role involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective nutrition interventions tailored to age, cultural, and medical needs, while supporting departmental quality improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Do
- Provide comprehensive clinical nutrition assessment, develop and document individualized nutrition care plans, and monitor progress to achieve measurable therapeutic goals.
- Screen and level patients for nutritional risk as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Modify diets and recommend appropriate modes of nutrition support (enteral and parenteral), and monitor tolerance and effectiveness.
- Deliver age-appropriate nutrition counseling and food–drug interaction education to patients and families/caregivers.
- Consider cultural and religious dietary needs when planning interventions and meal recommendations.
- Educate and guide medical, nursing, and nutrition staff on core clinical nutrition principles.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives, department projects, and staff in‑services to support department goals.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition (or equivalent) and 0–2 years of clinical experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Completion of an ACEND‑accredited internship or program.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential, or ability to pass the registration exam within 3 months of employment.
- Commonwealth of Massachusetts license (required for practice in North Cambridge, MA).
- Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Nutrition.
- Experience in long‑term care or the specific service area you will cover.
- Board Certification in Nutrition Support, Renal, or Diabetes (preferred).
- Skills:
- Entry‑level clinical nutrition skills with strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Ability to create objective, measurable care-plan goals and revise plans based on patient response.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $24.76 – $36.06 per hour (estimate based on minimum qualifications and local market data for North Cambridge, MA).
- Compensation determination considers education, experience, skills, certifications, internal equity, and market competitiveness.
