What You’ll Do
This entry-level Design Engineer I role supports MEP project design work across HVAC, plumbing and fire-protection systems for commercial and institutional projects. Typical responsibilities include:
- Assist higher-level engineers with conceptual and detailed design tasks
- Perform basic engineering calculations (heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing)
- Compute friction loss and perform hydraulic calculations for piping systems
- Prepare drawings, specifications and basic design submittals using CADD tools
- Read and interpret mechanical and plumbing plans and as-built documents
- Support coordination with cross-discipline teams (architectural, electrical, structural)
- Document design assumptions and decisions; communicate progress to project leads
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical, architectural engineering, or related field)
- Entry-level role; 0–3 years of relevant design or internship experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire suppression system design
- Ability to perform heating/cooling load calculations, equipment selection, and hydraulic/friction-loss calculations
- Proficiency with CADD and Microsoft Office (Excel required)
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required
Compensation & Benefits
Estimated pay: $91,308 per year (estimated).
