Role overview
We are partnering with a Confidential Client seeking an entry-level Design Engineer (Engineer‑in‑Training, EIT) to support residential and site development projects in Fort Worth, TX. This role is hands‑on, focused on producing plan sets, performing basic engineering calculations, and supporting permitting and construction administration under close supervision.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare plan sheets (grading, drainage, utilities, paving) for residential and site development projects with close supervision
- Perform basic calculations (hydraulics, utility sizing, earthwork)
- Support entitlement and permitting documentation and submittals
- Coordinate with internal engineering/design staff, and when directed, with municipalities, consultants, contractors, and clients
- Assist with construction administration tasks such as clarification sketches, submittal review, and RFI responses
- Maintain drafting accuracy and follow the firm’s standards and CAD conventions
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
- Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certification
- Experience via internship or prior work in land/site development or civil engineering
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and common utility/design tools
- Strong attention to detail and good self‑checking habits
- Clear, concise communication and ability to accept direction and integrate feedback
- Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred / Helpful Skills
- Familiarity with grading, drainage, and utility plan production workflows
- Basic hydraulic and earthwork calculation experience
- Prior exposure to permitting workflows and municipal submittal processes
- Ability to learn design standards and drafting templates quickly
Compensation & Location
- Location: Fort Worth, TX (on-site / hybrid as determined by the Confidential Client)
- Estimated salary (reported): $52,411 per year (estimated)
- Employment type: Full‑time (standard engineering role)
