Overview
Careertakes is partnering with a confidential client in the Engineering industry to hire a full-time Design Engineer in Blackhawk Village, IA. This role focuses on mechanical product and system design from concept through testing and manufacturing. The position offers a salary range of $65,000–$75,000 per year plus a 10% performance bonus.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and complete engineering projects by studying customer requirements, market demand, and competitor products.
- Evaluate mechanical systems using principles of mechanics, hydraulics, and materials.
- Design and run feasibility studies, tests, and validation procedures to confirm system and product capabilities.
- Develop new mechanical products and refine manufacturing and assembly methods.
- Design or modify fabrication and assembly equipment to improve cost and process efficiency.
- Create and maintain product and system testing methods; ensure product quality and compliance with regulations.
- Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
- Provide engineering support and documentation to internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain system and product databases and support automation and electronic processing as needed.
- Contribute to team goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- 1–5 years of engineering experience (entry-level to early career).
- Advanced computer skills and comfort with electronic processing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and common design/CAD software systems.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Analytical aptitude to identify automation and process-improvement opportunities.
- Functional understanding of cost accounting principles.
- A mindset aligned with lean enterprise principles and continuous improvement.
- Fast learner — able to adopt new tools and systems quickly.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Heavy haul trailer engineering experience.
- Heavy equipment engineering experience.
- Prior exposure to manufacturing process improvement or equipment design.
Compensation & Location
- Salary: $65,000–$75,000 per year.
- Bonus: 10% performance bonus (as stated by the client).
- Location: Blackhawk Village, IA (on-site / local presence expected unless otherwise specified by the client).
