Design Assistant
The Design Assistant at Confidential Client supports the creation and development of innovative sports bra designs by collaborating with senior designers and cross-functional teams. This role involves assisting in technical product development, managing samples, and contributing to trend research and design presentations to ensure high-quality, performance-driven apparel aligned with brand standards.

What You’ll Do
- Support senior designers in conceptualizing and developing performance-driven apparel (sports bra) designs that meet aesthetic and functional goals.
- Contribute to trend research, seasonal mood boards, and presentation materials to influence collection direction.
- Create and update design sketches, presentation boards, and visual assets for internal reviews.
- Work closely with Technical Design and Product Development to ensure accurate execution of construction, fit, and specifications.
- Maintain and update tech packs, BOMs, line sheets and other design documentation with precision.
- Assist with sample management: coordinate prototype requests, track samples, and maintain an organized sample library.
- Participate in sample fittings, document feedback, and help implement timely updates to tech packs.
- Coordinate with vendors and cross-functional partners (merchandising, production, marketing) to support product launches and photoshoots.
- Support review and approval of lab dips, fabric swatches and other pre-production materials.
- Track project timelines and monitor milestones to help ensure on-time delivery of design components.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or related field — or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 1–2 years in apparel design (internship or entry-level experience is acceptable).
- Technical skills:
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Familiarity with 3D design tools (e.g., CLO 3D) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of fabric properties, trims, garment construction and printing techniques.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting and collaborating across teams.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to maintain accurate design documentation.
- Passion for fitness/performance apparel and curiosity about emerging materials and technologies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and adapt to shifting priorities.
Compensation & Location
- Pay range: $25 — $30 USD per hour (range provided to comply with applicable pay transparency in California). Final pay depends on experience and qualifications.
- Employment type: Contract / Full-time (as indicated by the hiring client).
- Work location: Preuss, CA (on-site expectation unless stated otherwise by the client).
