What You’ll Do

The Dedicated Lending Associate (SAFE Act) will support Home Lending Officers and the lending team by managing loan application workstreams, coordinating with operations and third parties, and helping close mortgage transactions. This role balances customer service, administrative loan origination tasks, and compliance with SAFE Act requirements.

  • Deliver mortgage lending assistance in consultation with assigned Home Lending Officer(s), including collecting borrower information, explaining mortgage options, quoting system rates/terms, and tracking application progress.
  • Gather documentation from borrowers and third parties (title companies, realtors) and determine required items to submit quality files to underwriting.
  • Monitor application pipelines and key dates (consent, rate lock and lock expiration, anticipated close) and communicate timelines and requirements to borrowers and partners.
  • Coordinate with Operations/Processing teams to transfer complete loan files and supply additional documentation requested by processors or underwriters.
  • Support marketing and referral efforts for the Home Lending Officer(s): manage marketing materials, follow up on leads, attend open houses or realtor events as needed.
  • Manage customer inquiries and build/maintain relationships with an assigned client book of business.
  • Apply sound risk assessment and ethical judgment; escalate and report control issues and ensure compliance with laws, regulations and internal policy.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in mortgage or loan origination; banking experience preferred.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills; strong customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize pipeline tasks, prioritize follow-ups, and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of consumer lending laws and regulations (e.g., fair lending, privacy, RESPA) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to support branch or regional growth.
  • This position requires registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS). Candidates must obtain and maintain a unique NMLS identifier before performing MLO activities and must provide that identifier to consumers as required by SAFE Act regulations and firm policy.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred — or High School diploma/GED with at least 2 years of relevant loan origination experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $72,000 — $105,000 per year (Confidential Client). In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive discretionary and formulaic incentive or retention awards.
  • Typical benefits may include medical, dental & vision coverage, 401(k), life/accident/disability insurance, paid time off and paid holidays. Specific offerings may vary by jurisdiction and hire date.

  • Expert knowledge of general lending products, services and pricing alternatives.
  • Ability to explain financial calculations and mortgage pricing options to customers.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple loan files simultaneously.
  • Proactive, self-starter attitude with demonstrated follow-through on referrals and marketing activities.
  • Comfortable working with referral partners including real estate agents and title companies.
