What You’ll Do
The Dedicated Lending Associate (SAFE Act) supports Home Lending Officers by managing loan applications end-to-end, coordinating with internal operations and external partners, and helping close mortgage transactions. Key duties include:
- Deliver mortgage lending services in coordination with assigned Home Lending Officer(s): collect borrower information, counsel on mortgage options, quote system rates/terms, and follow up on application/processing items.
- Gather required documentation from borrowers and third parties (title companies, real estate agents) and determine items needed to submit files to underwriting.
- Monitor the application pipeline for key dates (consent, lock, lock expiration, anticipated closing) and communicate timelines and requirements to clients.
- Coordinate with Operations, Processors and Underwriters to ensure smooth transfer and completion of loan files.
- Manage marketing support and lead follow-up for the Home Lending Officer (open houses, realtor events, training, marketing materials).
- Build and maintain relationships with borrowers and referral sources; respond to customer inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Apply sound risk assessment and escalate compliance or control issues; follow applicable laws, regulations and company policy to protect the firm and its clients.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in mortgage loan origination or a related lending role.
- Banking or consumer lending experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; clear, client-facing professionalism.
- Ability to prioritize, manage pipeline tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of consumer lending rules (fair lending, privacy, RESPA) and ability to maintain compliance.
- Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a branch/team to drive growth.
Regulatory Requirement (SAFE Act / NMLS)
- This position requires registration as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS/Registry). Candidates must obtain and maintain a unique identifier from the Registry per applicable SAFE Act regulations and the client’s policies before engaging in mortgage loan originator activities.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred — OR — High school diploma/GED with at least 2 years of relevant loan origination experience.

- Expert knowledge of lending products, pricing alternatives, and financial calculations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to explain loan documentation requirements to customers.
- Comfortable managing marketing tasks and supporting referral generation activities.
- Proven teamwork and relationship-building skills with internal partners and external referral sources.
- High ethical standards and the ability to escalate and remediate control issues transparently.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $72,000 — $105,000 per year (required pay transparency for New York postings).
- Estimated market salary for similar roles: approximately $101,981 per year.
