What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level, hands-on role in a day habilitation program supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Typical responsibilities include:

• Help individuals achieve and exceed personal, social and vocational goals
• Provide structure, emotional support and encouragement during daily activities
• Assist with resolving behavioral challenges using de-escalation techniques
• Support personal care and hygiene as needed
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and progress notes
• Transport participants to/from volunteer and pre-vocational activities using agency vehicles

Qualifications & Requirements

To be successful in this role you should have:

• HS diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of MR/DD experience OR an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree OR 3 years related experience
• Clean, valid New York State driver’s license and safe driving record
• Ability to assist with lifting and transferring adult individuals
• Willingness to complete required trainings (AMAP — Approved Medication Administration Personnel; SCIP — Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention) within 6 months of hire and maintain certifications
• Flexibility to be reassigned to other programs and/or locations as needed
• Prior experience in caregiving, direct care, resident assistance, or similar roles is a plus
• Ability to understand and communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing

Schedule & Location

• Primary location: East Islip, NY
• Typical hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
• Role may require travel between program sites in Nassau and Suffolk counties and use of agency vehicles

Compensation

• Estimated annual pay: $29,975 per year (estimated, as listed by the client)
• Additional benefit details will be provided by the Confidential Client during the hiring process
