Database Administrator (Entry Level to SME) TS/SCI with Poly REQUIRED
The Database Administrator at Confidential Client supports the national security mission by managing, securing, and optimizing organizational databases across multiple levels of expertise, from entry to SME. Responsibilities include monitoring performance, ensuring data security and compliance, performing backups and disaster recovery, tuning complex queries, and leading technical teams. The role requires an active TS/SCI with Poly clearance and offers a hybrid work model in Arlington, focusing on advanced database technologies and cloud integration.

Responsibilities
This role is open across experience levels (Entry → SME). The core responsibility is to operate, secure, tune, and maintain production and non-production database environments that support mission-critical applications.

Entry / Junior (day-to-day)

Monitor database performance and storage; identify and escalate anomalies

Execute and verify backups; assist with basic recovery procedures

Manage user accounts and role-based access controls
-
Apply routine security patches and perform basic system updates

Troubleshoot common user issues and maintain documentation
-
Mid-Level
-
Perform query tuning, indexing, and storage optimization to meet SLAs
-
Design and test backup, archiving, and DR procedures (including replication)

Assist in database upgrades, migrations and integration with cloud services
-
Automate maintenance tasks via scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash)

Provide technical guidance to junior team members and work cross-functionally

Senior / SME
-
Architect and deploy complex relational and NoSQL solutions (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)

Lead performance diagnostics for multi‑TB systems and implement advanced tuning strategies

Design high-availability, clustering, replication, and multi-region DR solutions
-
Implement enterprise-grade security: encryption (at-rest/in-transit), data masking, audit trails
-
Serve as final technical escalation, mentor teams, and drive cross-team database strategy
Required Qualifications
All levels: active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph (Poly) is REQUIRED.

HS/GED + 4 years relevant experience, or Associate + 2 years, or Bachelor’s with 0 years

Basic SQL and familiarity with relational databases (MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle)

Strong attention to detail and clear written/verbal communication

Junior / Moderate

Education/experience mix per the role description (see above)

Foundational DBA skills and troubleshooting experience

Ability to analyze and resolve performance issues

Mid-Level
-
Bachelor's + 4 years (or equivalent experience) typical; advanced DB platform knowledge

Experience with cloud-managed DB services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL) and Linux/Windows admin

Scripting for automation and monitoring

Senior / SME
-
Extensive hands-on experience designing and operating complex DBMS environments

Mastery of advanced SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL; vendor certifications strongly preferred

Proven leadership, crisis management, and cross-department communication skills
Compensation & Benefits
- Reasonable estimated compensation range (U.S.): $89,600 – $204,000 per year (range provided by Confidential Client)
