What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a Data Scientist to join the Business Intelligence team supporting operational, financial, and customer analytics. You will turn complex datasets into clear, actionable insights, dashboards, and predictive models that drive business decisions. This is a hands-on role that partners closely with business leaders, data engineering, and IT to improve reporting, forecasting, and data quality.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to define KPIs, reporting needs, and performance drivers
  • Build and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and automated reporting (Tableau, Domo, or similar)
  • Perform deep-dive analyses to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for process or product improvements
  • Develop predictive and descriptive models to improve forecasting and business measurement
  • Translate analytical findings into concise, business-friendly insights and recommendations
  • Support data governance by validating data accuracy, consistency, and lineage
  • Collaborate with IT/data engineering and cloud teams to improve data pipelines and BI data availability

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Agriculture, or related field — or an M.S. with strong data analysis experience
  • Experience in BI, analytics, or data science roles supporting business operations
  • Strong SQL skills for extracting, cleaning, and transforming data from multiple sources
  • Experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Domo
  • Experience using Python or R for statistical analysis and machine learning
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Skills

  • 1–2 years of professional experience in analytics or data science roles
  • Experience with Databricks (Delta tables, Databricks/Spark SQL, notebooks, scheduled jobs/workflows)
  • Experience integrating and modeling data from multiple source systems (ERP/finance, CRM/sales, operations)
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT patterns in a modern lakehouse stack and collaboration with data engineering
  • Knowledge of forecasting, segmentation, and statistical analysis techniques
  • Background in financial, operational, or customer analytics
  • Experience developing semantic layers, curated datasets, and scalable reporting frameworks

Your Compensation

This position offers a base salary range of $84,000 - $176,000 (USD), with final compensation determined by experience, skills, and qualifications. The role is also eligible for a target annual bonus of 8% of base salary as part of the total rewards program.

Workplace & Schedule

This role follows the client’s on-site collaboration model. Primary location is Tremont, IL (authoritative location for this posting) with another site option referenced by the client. The role expects primarily on-site work (approximately 4 days per week) to support cross-functional teamwork.
