What You’ll Do

Support a federal Management Information System (MIS) program by collecting, cleaning, validating, analyzing, and visualizing operational and performance data. This role is ideal for a data scientist with strong Python, SQL, machine learning, and statistical analysis skills who has a current DoD SECRET clearance or had one within the past two years.

  • Collect, clean, validate, and analyze structured and semi-structured data.
  • Build Python and SQL scripts to extract data, run calculations, automate recurring analysis, and reduce manual reporting effort.
  • Support data quality reviews by identifying anomalies, missing values, inconsistent records, and reporting defects.
  • Assist senior analysts with statistical modeling, machine learning, trend analysis, and performance measurement.
  • Translate complex datasets into clear summaries and visualizations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Document data sources, business rules, transformation logic, assumptions, and analytical methods.
  • Review model outputs and error patterns to recommend improvements to analytical workflows.
  • Collaborate with senior data scientists, program analysts, project managers, and government stakeholders.

Clearance Requirement

This position requires an active DoD SECRET clearance or an inactive DoD SECRET clearance that expired within the last two years. Candidates who do not meet this clearance requirement will not be selected for this role.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in a relevant field.
  • Active DoD SECRET clearance or inactive DoD SECRET clearance for 2 years or under.
  • 3+ years of data science, data analytics, research analytics, or machine learning project experience.
  • Hands-on Python experience using libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, matplotlib, spaCy, Keras, or similar.
  • Proficient SQL skills for querying, joining, filtering, and preparing datasets.
  • Ability to inspect model errors, validate outputs, and recommend improvements.
  • Strong written and verbal skills to explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large statistical datasets and performance metrics or operational reporting.
  • Experience supporting program evaluation, performance measurement, or operational analytics.
  • Experience with BERT, NLP, unstructured text, topic segmentation, or terminology data.
  • Familiarity with data governance, data privacy, PII handling, CUI, or secure data environments.
  • Exposure to AWS, Git, and Jupyter Notebook or similar cloud/analysis tooling.
