What You’ll Do
- Interpret and analyze structured and unstructured data using exploratory mathematical and statistical techniques.
- Clean, massage, and organize data from multiple sources; automate pipelines to prepare data for analysis.
- Design, develop, and validate predictive and prescriptive models, including time series forecasting, clustering, and classification.
- Apply natural language processing (NLP), text mining, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to extract intelligence from text and logs.
- Use large-scale processing frameworks (Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms to run experiments on big data.
- Build data visualizations and dashboards to translate complex findings into actionable guidance for non-technical stakeholders (Tableau, Power BI, R Shiny).
- Collaborate with Data Engineers to build and maintain data environments and ensure reliable data access.
- Research, prototype, and implement algorithms that solve mission-focused problems; document methods and results.
- Mentor and instruct other team members on data science practices and model deployment best practices.
- Communicate experimental design, assumptions, and results clearly through digital storytelling and written reports.
What We’re Looking For
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret clearance; ability to be adjudicated for Top Secret/SCI is required.
- Minimum 1 year of applied data science experience solving real-world problems (industry, government, or defense experience preferred).
- Proficient in one or more analytical programming languages (Python, R, Java, C++, etc.) and common libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas).
- Experience with ML frameworks and data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Cloudera, IBM Cloud Pak or similar).
- Familiarity with Agile development practices and Git for source control.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field required; Master’s preferred in Operations Research, Applied Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Physics, or related fields. Degree requirements may be waived for candidates with extensive, demonstrable experience and a reviewable portfolio.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical work to non-technical audiences.
- This position cannot sponsor H‑1B visas; candidates must already be eligible to work in the U.S.
Compensation & Location
- Salary target: $90,000–$120,000 per year (DOE).
- Employment type: Full-time, long-term contract supporting a government Special Operations Command (SOCOM) data program.
- Location: Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC. On-site work required per client and government security requirements.
