What You’ll Do

This confidential client is hiring a Data Scientist to design, develop, and deploy advanced analytics and machine‑learning solutions that support intelligence and operational decision-making. You will turn structured and unstructured data into actionable insight and production-ready tools used by analysts and leadership.

Key responsibilities:

  • Apply advanced data science methods (data extraction, cleaning, feature engineering, modeling, evaluation) to large, heterogeneous datasets
  • Build and maintain predictive and descriptive ML models and AI solutions to support mission objectives
  • Develop interactive dashboards, visualizations, and reports using Power BI, O365 tooling, and other visualization platforms
  • Write reproducible code and data pipelines using Python, R, SQL, and related tooling
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Advise on data governance, data quality, storage, retrieval, classification, and documentation best practices
  • Prepare technical briefs, visualizations, and presentations to communicate results to technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Innovate tools and automation to improve workflow efficiency and long‑range research initiatives

Minimum Requirements & Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following legal and eligibility conditions:

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years (see application materials for exceptions and details)
  • May be required to pass a background investigation and drug testing consistent with applicable laws and the confidential client's policies
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service (where applicable)
  • All pre-employment processes will be conducted in English

Qualifications

Required

  • Degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a closely related field — OR equivalent combination of education and experience (per application instructions)
  • Experience equivalent to GS‑13 (one year of specialized experience) performing duties such as:
    • Applying advanced data science and statistical techniques to structured and unstructured data
    • Using Python, R, and SQL for data analysis, modeling, and automation
    • Building dashboards and data visualizations (Power BI and O365 experience preferred)
    • Collaborating across teams to implement data-driven solutions and data governance practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing technical reports and briefings

Preferred

  • Prior experience working on intelligence, national security, or mission-driven government projects
  • Familiarity with ML/AI model deployment and reproducible analytics pipelines
  • Demonstrated ability to present complex findings to leadership and operational stakeholders

Education

A bachelor’s degree in a directly related field is required unless qualifying experience substitutes for education; provide transcripts or documentation if requested by the hiring process.


Compensation & Location

  • Location: Riverside, CA (primary job location)
  • Salary range: $106,437 — $138,370 per year (GS‑13 range, Step 1–10). The final salary will be adjusted for locality and cost-of-living as applicable to the selected duty location.
