Role overview

Confidential client in the Social Networking/Social Media industry is seeking an Entry‑Level Data Scientist to join their analytics team in New Jersey. This is a full‑time role focused on data cleaning, exploratory analysis, building and validating predictive models, and communicating results to cross‑functional partners. The hiring team welcomes early‑career candidates with academic projects or internship experience.

What You’ll Do

• Collect, clean, preprocess, and integrate structured and unstructured datasets from multiple sources
• Design and train machine learning models (classification, regression, forecasting) and evaluate their performance
• Perform feature engineering and exploratory data analysis to discover patterns and opportunities
• Build dashboards and visualizations to translate technical results into business insights
• Work with product, engineering, and business teams to define problems and implement data‑driven solutions
• Document methods, experiments, and model performance; help maintain reproducible workflows
• Stay current with best practices and emerging techniques in data science and ML

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
• 1+ years of relevant experience (academic projects and internships count)
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data manipulation and modeling
• Solid understanding of statistics, probability, and core machine learning concepts
• Experience with data cleaning, feature engineering, and EDA
• Strong analytical thinking and clear written and verbal communication skills

Preferred (nice‑to‑have)

• Hands‑on experience with scikit‑learn, pandas, or similar libraries
• Familiarity with model evaluation metrics and validation techniques
• Experience creating dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI) or programmatic visualization
• Exposure to cloud platforms or versioned ML workflows (optional)

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $95,000 — $110,000 per year (reported by the confidential client)

Work location & schedule

• Location: New Jersey (hybrid; onsite expectation approximately 3 days per week)
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
