What You’ll Do

This Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Data Scientist to support the U.S. Special Operations Command Preservation of the Force and Family (POTFF) program. You will turn program data into clear, repeatable insights that inform decision-making across POTFF domains.

• Conduct data analytics, data mining, exploratory and predictive analysis, and statistical testing to identify trends, outliers, and actionable findings.
• Aggregate and clean datasets across multiple government systems and applications; prepare data for analysis and reporting.
• Build and maintain dashboards and automated reports (Power BI and similar tools) to surface program outcome metrics.
• Modify and enhance existing data sources and ETL processes to capture relevant program metrics.
• Assist with survey design, analyze survey responses, and report findings.
• Produce written and visual deliverables (reports, slides, visualizations) that communicate results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Consult with POTFF staff and supported units to identify methods for capturing program-related data and improving measurement strategies.
• Coordinate with the Government’s POTFF biostatistician and program staff on study design, analysis plans, and reporting.
• Apply statistics, modeling tools, and data visualization techniques to support program evaluation and operational decision-making.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline, social science, or a related field.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access).
• Basic proficiency with statistical tools such as Python, R (including R-Shiny), SPSS, or SAS.
• Familiarity with data visualization and dashboarding (Power BI preferred).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present findings clearly to diverse audiences.
• Detail-oriented with good interpersonal skills and initiative.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must possess or be able to obtain required security clearance (see below).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or certification in Human Performance or program evaluation.
• Experience working with Special Operations, military populations, athletics/sports, or related settings.
• Technical skills with SQL Server, Databricks, Apache Spark (PySpark), Python, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT development, dimensional modeling, data governance, and data pipeline orchestration.
• Experience with machine learning, statistical modeling, NLP, and large language models (LLMs) or retrieval-augmented workflows.
• Prior experience supporting enterprise analytics, predictive modeling, and low-code automation solutions in Microsoft/cloud environments.

Clearance & Work Location

• This role requires U.S. Citizenship.
• Candidates must have or be able to obtain an active TOP-SECRET/SCI clearance. (Applicants without proof of U.S. citizenship will not be considered due to clearance requirements.)
• Onsite position: work is located in Washington state. The successful candidate must reside locally or be able to relocate and report within 15 days of start; no relocation assistance is authorized.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000 per year.
• Benefits include medical (PPO & HDHP), dental, vision, short- and long-term disability, basic life insurance, 401(k) with company match, and voluntary benefits.
