Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Data Scientist I - Epic Model Monitoring to design, build, and maintain automated monitoring systems for predictive and Generative AI (GenAI) models operating in the Epic ecosystem (Cogito and Nebula). This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Skokie, IL (Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm) with occasional local travel. The role emphasizes automation, model validation, dashboarding, and clear communication with clinical and technical stakeholders.

Hourly pay range: $34.41 - $53.34.


What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain automated monitoring systems for model performance, health, usage, and drift (predictive and GenAI) running in Epic Nebula and tracked via Cogito dashboards.
  • Collect, clean, and preprocess data from Epic Chronicles, Caboodle, and the enterprise data lakehouse for analysis and validation.
  • Support the end-to-end analytics lifecycle: prototype in proof-of-concept environments, configure and test models, deploy to production, and validate performance.
  • Build dashboards and reports to surface model metrics, performance degradation, data drift, and clinical impact.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, IT, and clinical teams to integrate model outputs into workflows and to ensure safe, reliable operation.
  • Document methods, maintain reproducible workflows, and contribute to monitoring frameworks and governance practices.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders and help drive actionable remediation when issues are detected.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in data science, analytics, or a similar role.
  • Epic Cogito Fundamentals certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • High proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Experience with Epic (Cogito, Nebula, Chronicles, Caboodle) is a strong plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset, intellectual curiosity, and effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in statistics, applied mathematics, predictive analytics, computer science, operations research, or related quantitative discipline.
  • Proven hands-on experience navigating and querying Epic Cogito and Nebula.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or other data lakehouse platforms.
  • Experience with monitoring GenAI models in clinical contexts and understanding of model governance in healthcare.
  • Prior experience working with clinical teams and understanding of healthcare data sources.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly pay range: $34.41 - $53.34 (range reflects experience and qualifications).
  • Full-time (hybrid) schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm; local travel to other corporate sites as needed.
