What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Data Scientist I to turn raw data into actionable insights and production-ready tools that support decision-making and operational missions in an engineering services environment. You will work on cloud and on-premises systems, support model onboarding and transition to operations, and help build reliable data pipelines and analytic workflows.
- Work on assignments requiring judgment and initiative to deliver analytic results
- Help onboard, operate, and transition AI/ML models in cloud and on-premises environments
- Support development of data and software delivery pipelines to ensure reliability and compliance
- Visualize, analyze, and provide metrics for program-level projects and stakeholders
- Provide technical support for research, development, and transitioning advanced analytics to operational use
- Analyze unstructured and semi-structured data using entity extraction, latent semantic techniques, and complex event processing
- Process, index, and manage both high-volume collections and high-velocity data streams
- Design and assist in deploying applications that use advanced unstructured-data techniques
- Interpret data to identify patterns, trends and deliver actionable recommendations
Qualifications
Required — candidates must meet the following to be considered:
- Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field
- Entry-level: 0–2 years professional experience (this role is suitable for recent graduates or early-career professionals)
- Strong analytical skills and interest in solving technical problems
- Good written and oral communication; able to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on cross-functional teams
- Experience with or understanding of cloud-based tools for data analysis (AWS/GCP/Azure or similar)
Preferred / Desired Skills
These skills are a strong plus and will make you more competitive:
- Practical experience applying machine learning, clustering, or algorithm analysis
- Experience with textual processing and open-source NLP tools
- Familiarity with entity extraction, conceptual search, and visual analytics tools
- Unix/Linux scripting experience
- Programming experience in Python, C/C++, Fortran, or similar languages
- Experience with R, MATLAB, Excel, or similar analysis tools
- Background in data mining, statistics, predictive analytics, and performance analysis
- Familiarity with enterprise software stacks (open-source or Windows/.NET ecosystems)
Compensation & Benefits
- Projected salary range: Min: $66,456.39 — Max: $115,554.76 (final offer depends on factors such as Contract Wage Determination, experience, skills, education, and relevant labor categories)

Location & Clearance
- Location: Chantilly, VA (on-site / local support as required by program)
- Clearance: Candidates must already hold a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and be able to maintain it. U.S. citizenship is required due to clearance requirements.
