What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to design, build, and ship machine learning solutions that power a real-time analytics platform. This is a hands-on role for candidates who combine strong statistical foundations with production experience and who regularly use AI tools to accelerate development.

  • Design, build, and optimize ML models across statistical ML and deep learning (CNNs, LSTMs, Transformers) for large-scale, real-time analytics.
  • Build predictive models, anomaly detection, and automated alerting using time-series and other complex datasets.
  • Implement end-to-end solutions: prototype (POC), iterate with AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot), and productionize models.
  • Process and analyze large-scale data using Ray and Spark; optimize for latency and throughput in real-time pipelines.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate models into production services and monitoring systems.
  • Contribute to AI roadmaps and design AI-driven alerts and automation to improve product outcomes.
  • Stay current with AI/ML research and apply best practices for model generalization, observability, and reproducibility.

Qualifications

Minimum required (applicant must meet one of these):

  • PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field; OR
  • MS + 5+ years applied ML / data science experience.

Technical skills and experience:

  • Strong foundation in traditional ML: regression, classification, tree-based ensembles, clustering, dimensionality reduction.
  • Deep learning experience: CNNs, RNNs/LSTMs, Transformers, attention mechanisms.
  • Statistical modeling and algorithms: optimization, Bayesian/probabilistic modeling.
  • Proficiency in Python for production-grade data science; experience with Scala or similar languages is a plus.
  • Proven track record of shipping ML systems from prototype to scalable, production-integrated solutions.
  • Experience using Ray and Spark for large-scale processing.
  • AI-native developer: habitual, productive use of AI coding tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) for coding, debugging, and iteration.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across product, engineering, and stakeholder teams.
  • Comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with real-time streaming systems and observability tooling.
  • Familiarity with cloud ML infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerized deployments.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $180,000 - $220,000 per year (range reflects base compensation; final offer dependent on skills, experience, and location).
  • Full-time employees are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) with company match, and commuter benefits (where applicable).
  • Competitive paid time off and a supportive environment for professional growth.
