Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Data Scientist to help drive profitable growth by delivering data-driven insights that optimize pricing, margin, and product mix. This role sits at the center of a strategic transformation (including Salesforce Revenue Cloud and related platforms) and works cross-functionally with pricing, sales, procurement, and finance teams to convert analytics into measurable business outcomes.

What You’ll Do

• Partner with pricing, sales, procurement, and finance to translate complex data into actionable recommendations
• Analyze margin and growth performance across customers, products, suppliers, and channels to find improvement opportunities
• Detect margin leakage drivers (discounting, pricing inconsistencies, cost fluctuations)
• Analyze win/loss, deal-level performance, and competitive pricing trends
• Build predictive models for demand, price elasticity, and customer behavior
• Apply machine learning to identify cross-sell, upsell, and mix-optimization opportunities
• Aggregate, transform, and feature-engineer large datasets (Sales, Customer, Product, Competitor)
• Present clear, business-focused insights via narrative and visualizations to non-technical stakeholders
• Enable self-service analytics and measurement frameworks for business users
• Track and measure realized impact of implemented initiatives
• Maintain documentation for models, data pipelines, and methodologies; follow data governance and internal policies
• Promote analytics best practices across the organization

Essential Qualifications

• Strong Python programming skills
• Advanced SQL expertise
• Solid grounding in statistics and machine learning (modeling, validation, interpretability)
• Experience in data engineering and feature building for analytical models
• Familiarity with price theory (willingness to pay, share of wallet, elasticity) or demonstrated ability to learn quickly
• Proven stakeholder management and communication skills—able to simplify complex ideas into narratives and dashboards
• Strong problem-solving, ideation, and interpersonal skills
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field, or equivalent experience (must be evidenced at offer stage)

Desirable (Nice-to-Have) Skills

• Experience with Snowflake, AWS, or similar cloud data platforms
• Spark / Databricks experience
• Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP) and Salesforce
• Experience building dashboards in Power BI or similar BI tools
• Prior work in distribution, industrial/electronics distribution, or automation machinery manufacturing
