Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Data Scientist / Data Engineer. This role is targeted at early-career candidates (recent grads, career changers, or those with limited professional experience) who want hands-on training, project work, and placement support to launch a data-focused career. This is a full-time opportunity based in Austin, TX (remote-friendly arrangements may be considered).

What You’ll Do

Confidential Client’s junior data role is practice-focused: you will learn, build, and ship data systems that inform business decisions and productionize models under senior mentorship.

• Work with structured and unstructured data: clean, transform, and validate datasets for analysis and modeling
• Help build and maintain ETL/data pipeline components for analytics and ML
• Assist with model development, evaluation, and basic productionization (testing, monitoring, reproducibility)
• Create dashboards and visualizations that communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to scope and deliver projects
• Document work, follow team best practices (version control, code reviews, unit tests), and iterate based on feedback

Who We’re Looking For

This role is ideal for early-career candidates who are technically curious and eager to learn on the job.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Math, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
• 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships, coursework, bootcamp projects, or personal projects count)
• Practical familiarity with at least one programming language used for data work (Python or Java is commonly used)
• Basic SQL skills for querying and manipulating relational data
• Exposure to analytics, machine learning concepts, or data engineering workflows (coursework, projects, or internships)
• Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Portfolio, GitHub, or project examples are a strong plus

Nice-to-have (not required):

• Experience with ML libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) or data tools (Airflow, Spark, cloud basics)
• Coursework or projects in data visualization and model evaluation
• Willingness to learn modern cloud toolchains and production practices

• Employment type: Full time
• Salary range (provided by source): $82,000 - $136,000 per year
• Remote-friendly / Austin, TX — role is based in Austin with options for remote work depending on the team and candidate location
